FIRST is a robotics engineering program that offers unique challenges to children of all ages. Each year a new challenge is released, with new rules, regulations and limits on what the robots can be and have to do. Teams are given six weeks to construct a robot that can fit parts of the challenge.
Six weeks of competitions follow the Build Season, where teams compete in alliances, with two other teams, against another alliance for points. The competition gives an opportunity to learn about cooperation and people skills, in order to choose alliances best for your team and robot. Through FIRST, students learn team building and inter-team cooperation, especially during competitions.
FIRST also gives out scholarships to seniors who have been consistent participating in a team during their high school career, which is an amazing aspect of the program.
